What OppAlerts Can Replace, and What You Would Keep

Check which research subscriptions OppAlerts could replace. Compare the tasks it covers with the auditing, writing, outreach and social listening tools you would keep.

If you are reviewing software costs, you need to know which tasks OppAlerts can take over and which still require another service. Work through this as a checklist against the subscriptions you currently pay for. Each item is a task rather than a product, because tools bundle differently and the only reliable comparison is of the work.

Tasks OppAlerts covers

  • Tracking brand presence in AI answers on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode, with mentions, cited sources and comparison against named competitors.
  • Keyword rank tracking on Google and Bing, where one Google request returns the organic results, the ads and the AI Overview together.
  • Finding link and placement opportunities by type: guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts, industry directories, award programs and speaking submissions, searched by meaning as well as by keyword.
  • Backlink comparison against competitors, listing sites linking to them and not to you.
  • Finding pages that mention your brand without linking to it.
  • Looking up the contact route a website publishes: contact pages, email addresses, phone numbers and social profiles.
  • Judging whether a site is worth approaching, using month-by-month link graph measurements rather than a single current figure.
  • Monitoring published coverage of your brand and competitors across news, blogs and podcasts.
  • Researching questions for content, drawn from AI answers, search results, related searches, news and prospect pages.
  • Checking a draft against an intended category, including audience, industry, product and US city taxonomies.

If several of those currently sit in separate subscriptions, that overlap is the case for consolidating. A campaign is defined once and the same definition selects results across all of them.

Tasks you would keep another tool for

OppAlerts does not include the following functions.

TaskWhy OppAlerts does not cover it
Technical site auditingNo site auditing of any type. Broken links, redirects, indexation and page speed are not examined.
Writing or publishing contentNothing is drafted, rewritten or published. A draft you wrote is measured.
Sending outreachNo email sending, sequences, follow-ups or reply tracking.
Storing outreach relationshipsNo contact records, notes or history. Contact lookup is on demand.
Verifying email deliverabilityPublished details are returned as stored. Nothing is tested.
Journalist research by beatNo reporter profiles, publications or beats.
Social listening and sentimentSocial platforms and review sites are not read. Sentiment is not scored.
Audience demographicsNot reported.
Crawler and server log analysisYour logs are never seen.
AI traffic and conversion attributionYour analytics are not connected or read.
Perplexity and Claude trackingNot available and cannot be added on request.
Creating or editing campaigns through an APIAPI and MCP provide read-only access.
Keyword research at platform depthSearch volume databases, difficulty scoring and forecasting are not the product's strength.

Calculate the subscriptions you would cancel

Add up only the subscriptions you would cancel. If you keep a tool for one report, its cost remains part of your total. Decide whether you still need that report.

Two mistakes are common in this calculation.

The first is counting a tool as replaced when only part of it is. If you use a platform for both rank tracking and site audits, moving the tracking here does not remove the subscription, because the auditing has nowhere to go.

The second is ignoring seats. Several products in these categories charge per user, and some charge nothing. A comparison priced for one login and a comparison priced for your actual team can rank the options differently.

A reasonable arrangement

Many teams end up with two or three tools rather than one, and that is a sensible outcome rather than a failure of consolidation.

A common setup is a technical SEO platform for auditing and keyword research, OppAlerts for prospecting, monitoring, contact research and content checking, and an outreach platform for sending. Each does something the others do not, and the overlap between them is small enough to justify.

What OppAlerts is intended to replace is the row of separate research subscriptions, not the specialist tools at either end of the process.

Before cancelling an existing subscription, complete the relevant task with the proposed replacement. Confirm the required output and capacity so your team can continue its work.

Let’s discuss how we can work together.

An industry report, a custom dataset, a partnership; a couple of sentences is plenty. Every message comes straight to me, and I read all of them.

If it’s a fit, you’ll hear back quickly with next steps or a time to talk.
