OppAlerts and SE Ranking Compared

Compare SE Ranking and OppAlerts for the search work your team performs each week. Assess daily tracking, site audits and writing alongside prospect and coverage research.

If you are selecting search software, you need to account for recurring keyword and prompt tracking as well as the research your team does between reports. SE Ranking sells conventional SEO and AI answer tracking in one subscription, and it bundles a large amount of both. Its lower plan covers 2,000 keywords and 100 prompts tracked daily. OppAlerts tracks a smaller engine list and puts the rest of its scope into prospecting, contact research, coverage monitoring and content scoring.

OppAlerts publishes this comparison. SE Ranking bundles more tracking per dollar than OppAlerts can argue against.

On tracking volume for the money, SE Ranking is the stronger buy, and the sections below do not argue otherwise. The question worth answering is whether tracking volume is what decides your purchase.

Keywords tracked daily2,0005,000

Its AI tools are named the AI Search Toolkit, AI Overviews Tracker and AI Mode Tracker, with an AI Writer for drafting. SE Visible is a separate product for AI visibility analysis. The pages read do not state which engines the trackers cover beyond those names, so confirm that against your reporting requirement.

Two capabilities have no OppAlerts equivalent. SE Ranking audits websites, at 250,000 or 2,000,000 pages a month, and OppAlerts does not audit sites at all. SE Ranking's AI Writer drafts content, and OppAlerts does not write or publish anything.

How the tracking meters differ

SE Ranking sells a daily entitlement: 100 prompts a day means 100 each day, and an unused day does not carry forward. Seats are counted separately, at one and three managers.

OppAlerts counts a weekly call allowance, where one call is one tracked prompt or keyword, on one provider, on one day. You tick which days each item needs fresh data. It is not sold by the seat.

The consequence is that the two products are cheapest for opposite reporting habits. If everything must be checked every day, a daily entitlement is efficient and SE Ranking gives a great deal of it. A call allowance supports checking a large set twice a week and a small set daily. The number of people reading the results does not change the price.

A worked comparison: 200 prompts across three providers, twice a week, is 1,200 OppAlerts calls a week. Under a daily entitlement the same 200 prompts would need to fit inside the daily prompt allowance whether or not you wanted them refreshed on the other five days.

Where OppAlerts covers work SE Ranking does not

Nothing on the SE Ranking pages read describes an opportunity-type prospect index, stored website contact details, a news, blog and podcast index, or PageRank history. Those change what a campaign can do once the rankings are known.

  • Prospect Index, searched by meaning as well as by keyword and filtered by opportunity type: guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts, industry directories, award programs and speaking submissions.
  • Site Info, returning the stored public contact pages, emails, phone numbers and social profiles for a site, so a prospect can be contacted without a separate contact database.
  • News Index over indexed news, blog and podcast content, searched by keyword or by meaning for brand and competitor coverage.
  • Brand Unlinked Mentions, listing pages that name the business without an observed link to it.
  • PageRank history, with monthly link-graph measurements for a host, its www variant and its domain.
  • Content Optimizer compares a draft you paste in with up to three categories you select, one per taxonomy. It lists the nearest categories and the phrases the draft does not contain. It reads up to 8,192 bytes at a time.

Content Optimizer and the SE Ranking AI Writer serve different stages of writing. The AI Writer produces text. Content Optimizer measures text you already wrote against a category you selected, and reports the distance and the missing phrases. It does not draft, rewrite or publish.

How OppAlerts uses the campaign definition

SE Ranking organizes work in projects attached to a website. OppAlerts organizes around a campaign holding the business, its brands, its competitors and three buyer personas, each with a written description, which must be complete before the campaign locks.

That definition then selects results in every report. A prospect search, a mention report, a tracked prompt and a content check all return results about the same market without separate configuration. For an agency, that context is written once per client and reused across the reports.

Choosing between them

Choose SE Ranking when tracking volume decides the purchase, when you need site auditing, when a drafting tool is useful, or when 100 to 250 daily prompts alongside thousands of keywords matches your reporting needs.

Choose OppAlerts to find placements by opportunity type, look up contacts, monitor published coverage and check drafts against an intended category. Several people can read the results at no extra charge.

These two are unusually complementary, because their strong areas barely touch. A team can track on SE Ranking and prospect on OppAlerts without paying twice for much.

Compare the same tracking workload, then work through a typical research task. Check which product supports the required steps and which tools you would still retain.
