SE Ranking Alternatives for SEO and AI Answer Tracking

Compare SE Ranking alternatives for the SEO tasks you need to retain. Review keyword tracking capacity, staff access, backlink data and tools for publication research.

If you are considering replacing SE Ranking, identify the tracking capacity and SEO research your team uses each week. SE Ranking is difficult to beat on bundled tracking volume. Its $129 a month plan carries 10 projects, 2,000 keywords tracked daily and 100 prompts tracked daily. The $279 plan raises that to 30 projects, 5,000 keywords and 250 daily prompts.

OppAlerts publishes this page and is one of the alternatives on it. SE Ranking bundles more tracking per dollar than it does.

So teams rarely leave it over tracking cost. They leave over the manager seat count, which is one or three by plan, or because a specific capability is missing. Identify which before shortlisting, because the price comparison will usually favor staying.

AccuRanker, when seats are the constraint

SE Ranking meters manager seats. AccuRanker does not meter users or domains at all, so a ten-person team costs the same as one person. Pricing runs on keywords alone: $224 a month for 2,000 to 5,000 keywords, $764 for 10,000 to 25,000, quoted above that.

It is a specialist, so weigh what you lose. There is no backlink index, no site audit and no content tooling. What you gain is daily updates with search intent, tagging, advanced filtering, forecasting, and Google Search Console and Analytics connections. Expert includes MCP access and an unlimited read API, plus AccuLLM, AI CTR and AI Search Volume.

The arithmetic only works above a certain team size. One person tracking 2,000 keywords pays $129 at SE Ranking and $224 here. Five people change that.

Serpstat, when the entry price has to be lower

Serpstat starts at $50 a month for 5 projects with 100 searches for sites, keywords and links per day. Plans at $100, $169 and $410 include unlimited projects with 500, 1,000 and 5,000 daily searches.

Read the meter carefully before treating this as cheaper. Serpstat counts searches performed, not keywords tracked on a schedule. A team running constant ad hoc lookups will feel a daily search limit that SE Ranking's tracked-keyword model never imposes. From the second tier it adds API access, MCP integration for ChatGPT and Claude, an AI Overview Brand Opportunities Report, batch analysis and scheduled reports.

Semrush, when keyword research depth is the gap

Semrush costs more for less tracking: $199 a month buys 500 keywords and 50 prompts daily against SE Ranking's 2,000 and 100 at $129. What the extra pays for is research depth, competitor analysis tooling, keyword cannibalization analysis, multi-location and device tracking, historical SEO data and SEO share of voice on higher plans.

It also offers MCP access from Starter and AI visibility reports for any domain at 300 a day, which is useful for researching brands you have not set up as projects.

Ahrefs, when backlink data is the gap

Ahrefs at $129, $249 and $449 a month gives 5, 20 and 50 projects, 750 to 5,000 tracked keywords, 100,000 to 1,500,000 crawl credits and 6 months to 5 years of history. API and MCP access are included on every plan.

Its AI prompt allowance on plan is small: 5, 10 and 20. Prompt tracking requires Brand Radar from $199 a month plus a prompt package. One check covers one prompt on one platform in one location. Packages cost $50 for 2,500 checks, $100 for 7,000 and $250 for 25,000. Ahrefs also charges $40 to $80 a month per extra user, so it moves in the wrong direction if seats were your reason for looking.

OppAlerts, when the gap is what happens after the ranking report

OppAlerts does not audit websites, does not write content, and tracks fewer AI engines than most products here. Its API and MCP server are available for read-only access. If any of those is the gap you are filling, it is not the answer.

Its scope covers the work SE Ranking does not describe: finding placements and pursuing them. One campaign definition holding the business, its brands, its competitors and three buyer personas provides context for all of it.

  • Prospect Index searched by meaning as well as keyword, filtered by opportunity type: guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts, industry directories, award programs and speaking submissions.
  • Site Info returning stored public contact pages, emails, phone numbers and social profiles for a site.
  • Backlinks DB: Link Gap listing sites linking to competitors you enter and not to you.
  • Brand Unlinked Mentions listing pages naming the business with no observed link.
  • News Index over indexed news, blog and podcast content for brand and competitor coverage.
  • PageRank history, monthly link-graph measurements for a host and its domain.
  • Content Optimizer compares a draft with categories you select and lists phrases it does not contain. It reads up to 8,192 bytes at a time.

It is also not sold by the seat, which addresses the manager seat limit directly.

Because these products meter different units, convert your actual workload into each vendor's unit before comparing. How to compare AI search tool costs explains the conversion.

Compare alternatives against that workload and the task your current setup leaves unresolved. Check what you would need to keep before changing subscriptions.
