OppAlerts and Scrunch Compared

Compare Scrunch and OppAlerts around your next AI visibility task. Distinguish website diagnostics and agent traffic from publisher research, link building and draft review.

If you are investigating AI visibility, identify whether the next task concerns your website's delivery or the sources and coverage around your business. Scrunch measures how a brand appears in AI answers and changes how a website is delivered to and read by AI agents. OppAlerts tracks fewer engines. Its other features cover link prospecting, backlink comparison, coverage monitoring, contact research and content scoring.

OppAlerts publishes this comparison. Scrunch works on your own website and reaches nine engines; OppAlerts does neither.

The clearest way to choose is to ask whether the next quarter's work is on your website or off it.

What Scrunch does that OppAlerts does not attempt

Three Scrunch modules are grouped under Agent Experience, and OppAlerts has no equivalent to any of them.

  • Site Diagnostics examines how AI systems read your site. Core includes five site audits a month; Enterprise describes complete site audits. OppAlerts does not audit websites at all.
  • Content Delivery serves an optimized experience to AI agents visiting your site. OppAlerts does not serve your website content or run within your infrastructure.
  • Agent Traffic analyzes AI traffic arriving at your website. OppAlerts never sees your traffic or your logs.

Scrunch also reports product-level performance through its Shopping module and tracks emerging patterns through AI Search Trends. Neither has an OppAlerts counterpart.

If a technical audit of your own site is what you are buying, this comparison ends here. Scrunch does that work and OppAlerts does not.

What each plan allows

Scrunch publishes Core at $250 a month and quotes Enterprise. The Core limits are worth reading closely, because several of them are single-digit numbers.

One brand workspace is the limit an agency hits first. Scrunch sells to agencies, but a second client means a second workspace, which Core does not include.

OppAlerts is organized differently. A campaign holds the business, its brands, its competitors and its personas, and an account holds many campaigns. It can hold up to 100 organizations in total, with no separate competitor limit. Locking requires three personas besides a neutral one, each with a description of 10 to 50 words, and at least one owned brand with one site. So personas are a requirement in OppAlerts rather than an allowance, and the number is not what you buy.

Tracking usage is counted separately from campaigns. One call is one tracked prompt or keyword, on one provider, on one day, and you tick which days need fresh data. That means the prompt count is not a plan boundary the way Scrunch's limit of 125 unique prompts is.

What OppAlerts does that Scrunch does not

Nothing on the Scrunch pages read describes a backlink index, a link gap report, a prospect index, website contact data, a news and blog index, PageRank history, or keyword rank tracking on Google and Bing.

OppAlerts focuses on those reports, while Scrunch focuses on your website.

  • Backlinks DB: Link Gap takes your site and competitor sites and lists sites with observed links to the competitors and no observed link to you. Open a referring page to see why it links to them.
  • Prospect Index searches stored pages by meaning as well as by keyword, filtered to opportunity types such as guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts and industry directories.
  • Site Info returns the stored public contact details and contact pages for a site, so a prospect can be qualified without a separate contact database.
  • News Index searches indexed news, blog and podcast content for a brand, a competitor or a topic.
  • PageRank history shows monthly link-graph measurements for a host and its domain, so a prospect's history is visible before you contact it.
  • Content Optimizer compares a draft with up to three categories you select, one per taxonomy, and reports the nearest categories and the phrases the draft does not use.
  • Keyword rank tracking on Google and Bing, where one Google request returns the organic results, the ads and the AI Overview together.

Content Optimizer and Site Diagnostics are easy to confuse, and they measure different things. Site Diagnostics examines a published website. Content Optimizer reads text you paste in, up to 8,192 bytes, and compares its meaning with a category you chose. It reports how closely the draft matches that category, not whether a page is crawlable.

Choosing between them

Choose Scrunch when the work is on your own website: audits, how AI agents fetch your pages, and the traffic they send. Choose it also when you need nine engines, several countries, or product-level shopping placement, and can buy at Enterprise.

Choose OppAlerts when the work is off your site: finding places to be mentioned and linked from, tracking coverage of your brand and competitors, researching who to contact, and checking drafts against the category you meant to write for. Choose it also when you run several clients or market segments, because campaigns are not priced one workspace at a time.

The overlap between them is the tracked prompt and the citation report. Everything else in each product answers a question the other one does not ask.

Evaluate the product against that next task as well as the tracking requirement. You can then choose tools suited to the work your team will actually perform.

Let’s discuss how we can work together.

An industry report, a custom dataset, a partnership; a couple of sentences is plenty. Every message comes straight to me, and I read all of them.

If it’s a fit, you’ll hear back quickly with next steps or a time to talk.
