OppAlerts and Brand24 Compared

Compare OppAlerts and Brand24 by where you need to find brand mentions. Review social coverage, AI providers and the link and contact research that follows a mention.

If you are responsible for brand monitoring, you need to compare where each product finds mentions and what your team intends to do with them. Brand24 monitors where a brand is mentioned across social platforms, news and the web, and it now also tracks how a brand appears in AI assistant answers. OppAlerts monitors mentions in the news, blog and web pages it indexes, and tracks fewer AI providers. It also supports link, prospect, contact and content research that Brand24 does not provide.

OppAlerts publishes this comparison. Brand24 states nine AI models to the three OppAlerts tracks.

Two facts decide most of this comparison, and both favor Brand24 on the measurement side.

Brand24 tracks more AI engines and already provides an API

Brand24's LLM Listening module states coverage of nine AI models: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot and Claude. It reports share of voice against competitors, the prompts that return your brand, and the sources shaping those answers.

OppAlerts sends a tracked prompt to three providers: ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode. Perplexity and Claude have no scraper and cannot be added. On engine count alone, Brand24 covers three times as many.

Brand24 also lists MCP and API integration among its enterprise features. OppAlerts provides read-only API and MCP access. If engine breadth decides the purchase, Brand24 wins; if programmatic access decides it, compare the operations and limits each exposes.

Where the two products monitor different things

The word monitoring covers two jobs that are easy to conflate.

Brand24 monitors conversation. It reads social platforms, adds sentiment analysis in all languages, and reports demographics of the people mentioning you (age, gender, occupation, income, education, interests). It detects anomalies in mention volume and reach and filters by country, region and language. Context Search accepts a short phrase instead of a Boolean string and returns matching mentions.

OppAlerts monitors published pages. Its News Index covers indexed news, blog and podcast content, and its Prospect Index covers stored web pages. Brand Mentions draws from search results, the Prospect Index and the News Index. It does not read social platforms, does not report demographics, and does not score sentiment.

So a brand whose reputation risk lives on social platforms needs Brand24 and would be poorly served here. A brand whose concern is coverage in publications, and what to do about that coverage, is the OppAlerts case.

How each product meters usage

Brand24OppAlerts
What you buyKeywords and mentions per monthCalls: one tracked item, one provider, one day
Entry plan3 keywords, 2K mentions, 1 user, refreshed every 12 hoursCampaigns and a weekly call allowance; not sold by the seat
Higher plans7, 12 and 25 keywords at 10K, 40K and 100K mentionsPrompt and keyword counts are not separately capped
Users1 on Individual, unlimited from Team upNot sold by the seat

The mention allowance is the part worth modeling before buying. It counts results, not searches, so a brand with heavy social chatter can consume a monthly allowance while tracking only a few keywords. A brand with a quiet name may never approach it.

The OppAlerts allowance behaves differently because it counts what you asked for rather than what came back. Two hundred prompts across three providers on two days a week is 1,200 calls, and that figure does not change if a busy news week produces more results.

What OppAlerts does that Brand24 does not

Nothing on the Brand24 pages read describes a backlink index, a link gap report, link prospecting by opportunity type, website contact discovery, PageRank history, keyword rank tracking on Google and Bing, or content scoring against a category taxonomy.

That difference matters most for the work that follows a mention. Brand24 tells you a page mentioned your brand. The next questions are usually whether the page linked to you, who to contact about it, and what else that publisher might accept.

  • Brand Unlinked Mentions lists pages that name the business without an observed link to it. Open the current page before requesting a link, because the publisher may have added one since the page was stored.
  • Site Info returns the stored public contact details and contact pages for that site, so the request can be addressed to someone.
  • Backlinks DB: Link Gap compares your site with competitor sites and lists sites linking to them and not to you.
  • Prospect Index searches stored pages by meaning as well as keyword, across opportunity types including guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts, directories and award programs.
  • PageRank history shows monthly link-graph measurements for a host, so a publisher's history is visible before you invest in the relationship.
  • Content Optimizer compares a draft with up to three categories you select, one per taxonomy, and lists phrases the draft does not contain. It reads up to 8,192 bytes at a time.
  • Keyword rank tracking on Google and Bing, where one Google request returns the organic results, the ads and the AI Overview together.

All of these run from one campaign definition covering the business, its brands, its competitors and three buyer personas. Prospect searches and mention reports return results about the same market without separate configuration.

Choosing between them

Choose Brand24 when social platform coverage, sentiment, demographics or anomaly detection are the reason for buying, when the AI engine list must include Perplexity or Claude, or when you need an API that can write rather than only read.

Choose OppAlerts when three AI engines are enough and the sources that matter are published pages, and when a mention is the start of a link request rather than the thing being counted.

Running both is a common and sensible arrangement: Brand24 for what is being said, OppAlerts for what to do about the pages saying it. The overlap between them is narrow, and it is not the AI engine list.

Evaluate both against your required sources and follow-up tasks. Choose the coverage and research that support how your team reviews and acts on mentions.
