If you are reviewing a listening contract, you need to know which sources, languages and analysis your team actually requires. Talkwalker sells breadth: its pricing page states 150 million data sources, more than 30 social platforms, 187 languages and 196 countries, with unlimited users on every Lumen plan. Teams look elsewhere when the quote exceeds the value they get, when they need publishing or PR distribution alongside listening, or when the analysis was never the point.
OppAlerts publishes this page and is listed last on it, because it does not do the job Talkwalker is bought for.
If multilingual consumer analysis at that breadth is what you use, only two products below are genuine equivalents.
Brandwatch, the closest equivalent
Brandwatch covers the same research ground through Consumer Intelligence, aimed at researchers and analysts, and adds two products absent from Talkwalker's pricing page: Social Media Management for teams that publish and reply, and Influencer Marketing. It describes itself as an official partner of the social networks with unlimited channels.
It publishes no prices either, so this is a quote-against-quote comparison. Give both vendors the same brief: the same languages, markets, expected volume and number of users.
Meltwater, when PR operations belong with the listening
Meltwater sells Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency tiers with tailored pricing. Its FAQ states the factors that shape a quote: modules, source and regional coverage, data and workflow volume, users, integrations, onboarding, support and contract terms.
It is the option for an organization whose brand work includes journalist research and media distribution rather than analysis alone. The Agency tier exists for agencies buying it as a program.
Brand24, when the requirement is smaller and the price should be visible
Brand24 publishes what the others do not: $249, $349, $499 and $699 a month for 3, 7, 12 and 25 keywords at 2,000, 10,000, 40,000 and 100,000 mentions a month. Users are unlimited from the second plan, with refresh intervals from every 12 hours to realtime.
It is a step down in breadth from Talkwalker and a step forward in AI coverage. Its LLM Listening module states nine AI models: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot and Claude. It also provides MCP and API integration, sentiment in all languages, and Anomaly Detection. Demographics covers age, gender, occupation, income, education and interests. Context Search takes a short phrase instead of a Boolean string.
Watch the mention allowance rather than the keyword count. It counts results, so a brand discussed heavily consumes it while tracking few keywords.
Mention, when alerts and Boolean control are enough
Mention crawls the web and social media for the keyword sets you register and returns matching results, with Boolean search, review monitoring, analytics and collaboration. It states coverage of a billion sources.
One check before moving: its FAQ states that the Publish and Respond features have been progressively deprecated, with that work directed to Agorapulse. If replying is part of your process, confirm what remains.
OppAlerts, when the analysis was never the deliverable
OppAlerts is last here because it does not do Talkwalker's job. There is no multilingual consumer analysis, no social platform coverage, no sentiment scoring and no demographic reporting.
It fits a team that bought a listening platform hoping it would produce work to do, and found that it produced reports instead. OppAlerts monitors published pages through a News Index of indexed news, blog and podcast content and a Prospect Index of stored web pages. It then supports the follow-through:
- Pages naming the brand without an observed link, and the stored public contact details for those sites.
- A prospect index searched by meaning across opportunity types: guest contributions, resource lists, roundups, podcasts and directories.
- A link gap report against named competitors, and monthly PageRank history.
- A content optimizer comparing a draft with categories you select, and tracking of ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode alongside Google and Bing positions.
One campaign definition covering the business, its brands, its competitors and three buyer personas provides context for all of those reports.
Matching the reason to the product
| Why Talkwalker stopped fitting | Look at |
|---|---|
| Same research breadth, different vendor | Brandwatch |
| Journalist research and PR distribution too | Meltwater |
| Publishing and replying on social | Brandwatch Social Media Management |
| A published price and a smaller scope | Brand24 or Mention |
| AI answer tracking alongside monitoring | Brand24 |
| Links, prospects, contacts and content checks | OppAlerts |
| Many languages and countries analyzed | Stay with Talkwalker, or move to Brandwatch or Meltwater |
Three of these vendors quote rather than publish, so the comparison only becomes real once each has priced the same defined brief. How source coverage changes a monitoring tool explains which inputs affect the quote.
Before selecting a Talkwalker alternative, test the coverage your organization depends on. Compare the price against those requirements and the work the team must complete.
