Ahrefs Alternatives for Backlinks, Rank Tracking and AI Visibility

Compare Ahrefs alternatives for backlink research, rank tracking and AI visibility. Match your audit, outreach and team requirements to the tools that cover them.

If you are considering replacing Ahrefs, identify which link, crawl and tracking tasks your team depends on. Ahrefs is bought for its crawl and its link data. Teams look elsewhere to reduce per-user charges, avoid a separate purchase for AI prompt tracking, or buy link data without the rest of the platform.

OppAlerts publishes this page and is one of the alternatives on it. It is listed last because it is the weakest replacement for Ahrefs link data.

The alternatives below address those requirements. OppAlerts is relevant when link research leads to outreach.

Majestic, when you want link data and nothing else

Majestic sells backlink data by the row. Its tiers allow 1 million, 20 million and 100 million analyzable backlinks, measured in AnalysisResUnits. Its Fresh Index can be checked several times a day and is separate from its historic index. It positions itself for audit and prospecting across a small group of sites.

That is a different unit from anything else in this list, and it makes Majestic a suitable choice for a buyer whose only requirement is link data at volume. The page reviewed lists no AI answer tracking, keyword rank tracking, content scoring or news monitoring. Majestic replaces the link-data part of Ahrefs.

Semrush or SE Ranking, when you want the platform without per-seat pricing

Semrush's SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced plans cost $139 to $549 a month. They monitor 5 to 40 websites and track 500 to 5,000 keywords daily. Plans from Starter up track 50 to 200 prompts daily. It adds Site Audit, which Ahrefs also has, and MCP access from Starter.

SE Ranking includes more prompt tracking for the price. Its $129 a month plan includes 10 projects, 2,000 keywords tracked daily and 100 prompts tracked daily. Against Ahrefs Lite at the same $129 with 5 AI prompts included in the plan, that is the largest difference in prompt allowances in this comparison. Its $279 plan raises it to 30 projects, 5,000 keywords and 250 daily prompts. Note that SE Ranking meters manager seats at 1 and 3.

Serpstat, when the platform price is the problem

Serpstat starts at $50 a month for 5 projects and 100 site, keyword and link searches per day. The $100, $169 and $410 plans include unlimited projects and 500, 1,000 and 5,000 daily searches. It is the cheapest full platform found in this research.

The meter counts searches rather than tracked keywords, which suits ad hoc research and uses more allowance for frequent daily lookups. From its second tier it adds API access, MCP integration for ChatGPT and Claude, and an AI Overview Brand Opportunities Report.

AccuRanker, when the team is large and the job is ranks

AccuRanker prices on keywords: $224 a month for 2,000 to 5,000, $764 for 10,000 to 25,000, quoted above that. Users and domains are unlimited, which is the direct answer to the Ahrefs per-user charge. A ten-person team pays the same as one person.

It adds AccuLLM, AI CTR and AI Search Volume, plus MCP and an unlimited read API at the Expert tier. It has no backlink index, so it is not an Ahrefs replacement for link work.

OppAlerts, when link data is a means to outreach

OppAlerts publishes no crawl figure comparable to Ahrefs', and this page makes no claim about which backlink index is larger. It has no site audit. Its API and MCP server provide read-only access, where Ahrefs provides both on every plan including Lite.

What differs is what happens after a link opportunity is identified. Ahrefs Brand Radar finds web mentions and link prospects. OppAlerts starts from a campaign holding the business, its brands, its competitors and three buyer personas, and carries that definition into every report.

  • Prospect Index searched by meaning as well as keyword, filtered by opportunity type: guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts, industry directories, award programs and speaking submissions. You search for the type of placement you want, not only for pages mentioning a keyword.
  • Site Info returns the stored public contact pages, emails, phone numbers and social profiles for a site, so the prospect can be contacted without buying a contact database.
  • Backlinks DB: Link Gap lists sites with observed links to the competitors you enter and no observed link to you.
  • Brand Unlinked Mentions lists pages naming the business without an observed link to it. Open the current page before requesting a link, because the publisher may have added one since the page was stored.
  • PageRank history gives monthly link-graph measurements for a host, its www variant and its domain, so a prospect's trend is visible rather than only its present value.
  • News Index covers indexed news, blog and podcast content for brand and competitor coverage.

OppAlerts is also not sold by the seat, which is the same advantage AccuRanker offers against Ahrefs, applied to a different set of reports.

For prompt tracking, use the Ahrefs check as the common unit: one prompt, on one platform, in one location. It is the one published rate in this group. Convert each competing allowance into checks before comparing prices. How to compare AI search tool costs works through it.

Before changing subscriptions, test the research you use most often and list any capabilities you would still need elsewhere. That gives the replacement decision a practical basis.

Let’s discuss how we can work together.

An industry report, a custom dataset, a partnership; a couple of sentences is plenty. Every message comes straight to me, and I read all of them.
