Mention Alternatives for Brand Monitoring

Choose a Mention alternative around the coverage and response work you need. Compare social listening, AI answer tracking, journalist research and link prospecting.

If you are considering replacing Mention, you need the new service to cover your monitoring terms, sources and review workload. Mention sells alerts and the mentions they return across the web and social media. Teams switch when mention volume exceeds the plan or they need more detailed audience analysis. Other reasons include the removal of publishing and replying features, or a need for link and outreach research.

OppAlerts publishes this page and is one of the alternatives on it. It reads published pages only, not social platforms or review sites.

Four of the six options below publish no price and quote after a demo, so part of the job is knowing what to ask for.

Brand24, the closest like-for-like

Brand24 does the same job with published prices: $249, $349, $499 and $699 a month for 3, 7, 12 and 25 keywords at 2,000, 10,000, 40,000 and 100,000 mentions a month. One user on the entry plan, unlimited users from the Team plan up, with refresh moving from every 12 hours to hourly to realtime.

It has moved further into AI answers than any other monitoring vendor here. Its LLM Listening module states coverage of nine AI models: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot and Claude. It includes share of voice benchmarking and source analysis. It also provides MCP and API integration, sentiment analysis in all languages, and Anomaly Detection. Its Demographics report covers age, gender, occupation, income, education and interests. Context Search accepts a short phrase instead of a Boolean string.

If you want one product that keeps doing what Mention does and adds AI answer tracking, this is it.

Talkwalker, when you need the analysis rather than the count

Talkwalker sells consumer intelligence. Its pricing page states 150 million data sources, more than 30 social platforms, 187 languages and 196 countries, and includes unlimited users on every Lumen plan. Those counts are Talkwalker's own and are not comparable with another vendor's numbers, since sources are not defined alike.

Language and country coverage is its clearest advantage over everything else in this list. The stored copy of its pricing page contains template placeholders rather than amounts, so expect a quote.

Meltwater, when PR operations are the job

Meltwater lists Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency tiers with no amounts. Its FAQ states that the quote depends on modules, source and regional coverage, data and workflow volume, users, integrations, onboarding, support and contract terms.

That is a program purchase with journalist research and distribution attached, not a subscription swap.

Brandwatch, for research and social publishing together

Brandwatch splits into Consumer Intelligence for researchers and analysts, Social Media Management for social managers and content marketers, and Influencer Marketing, with no published prices.

It is the direct answer to Mention's deprecation of Publish and Respond: if you need to monitor and publish in one platform, Brandwatch sells both. Mention now directs that work to Agorapulse.

BuzzSumo, when the goal is coverage and journalists

BuzzSumo runs $199, $299 and $499 a month with 1 and 5 users and 2 and 5 alerts, and searches that are unlimited and shared across the account. Its PR & Comms tier adds a Media Database for finding and contacting journalists writing about your brand, market and competitors, plus Coverage Reports. Those reports include publication data, engagement, mention count, placement within the article and excerpts.

The journalist database is the part no other product in this list matches, including OppAlerts. Its Question Analyzer, searching customer questions across forum posts including Amazon, Reddit and Quora, is also useful for content planning.

OppAlerts, when monitoring should end in outreach

OppAlerts is not a social listening product. It does not read social platforms or review sites, does not score sentiment, and reports no demographics. It has no journalist database. Brand24 tracks more AI models than it does, and Brand24, Serpstat and others already provide MCP where the OppAlerts API and MCP server provide read-only access.

OppAlerts monitors published pages through its News Index and Prospect Index. These contain news, blog and podcast content and stored web pages. Brand Mentions uses search results and both indexes.

The reason to consider it is what follows. Brand Unlinked Mentions lists pages naming the business with no observed link. Site Info returns the stored public contact pages, emails, phone numbers and social profiles for that site. Backlinks DB: Link Gap lists sites linking to your competitors and not to you. The Prospect Index finds placements by opportunity type, including guest contribution pages, resource lists, expert roundups, podcasts and directories. PageRank history shows a publisher's monthly link-graph history. All of it runs from one campaign definition holding the business, its brands, its competitors and three buyer personas.

Give every vendor the same brief before comparing quotes: the same keyword set, the same regions and languages, the expected mention volume, and how many people need access. How source coverage changes a monitoring tool explains which of those affects the price.

Use your existing alert requirements when evaluating alternatives. Check both the returned coverage and what your team can do with it before moving the monitoring work.

Let’s discuss how we can work together.

An industry report, a custom dataset, a partnership; a couple of sentences is plenty. Every message comes straight to me, and I read all of them.

If it’s a fit, you’ll hear back quickly with next steps or a time to talk.
