Freshness varies by dataset. Some collections have a published cadence; contact data does not carry a promised refresh interval. If you rely on a result for a current decision, check the collection and dates relevant to that result.

The distinction that causes the most confusion
Every stored document carries two dates, and they are frequently far apart.
The indexed date is when it entered the collection. The published date is when its publisher put it online.
A page published two years ago and collected yesterday appears as newly found. That is correct for your purposes, because it is newly available to you, and it is misleading if you describe it to a publisher as recent coverage.
The nightly counts classify a result as new when it was indexed within 24 hours. The News Index also requires publication within seven days. This excludes older pages collected during a monthly refresh from recent coverage counts.
What follows practically
Check the published date before writing to anyone about something you call recent.
Open the current page before acting on the absence of a link, because stored data describes the page as collected and a publisher may have added one since.
Save the News Index results you need while they are still in the window, because its coverage moves forward and the older month is dropped. Bulk export of the whole index is not included.
What is never current
Link graph measurements are monthly, so a link earned last week will not appear yet.
Tracked answers describe the moment they were collected. Given that assistants vary between runs, that is a sample rather than a current state, which is why a series matters more than the newest reading.
Before reporting a finding or contacting a publisher, verify the current source. That helps you avoid treating a discovery date as the date something happened.
