Product changes can alter which sources an assistant uses and which tasks it can complete. Treat forecasts as assumptions to monitor. Base implementation work on documented features and a relevant customer need.
Assistants that perform tasks
OpenAI’s Operator and checkout announcements describe steps toward assistants that browse or initiate purchases. Those announcements establish the features and plans stated at publication time. Verify the current product and market requirements before implementing them.OpenAI's Operator announcement: a research preview of an agent that uses its own browser to perform tasks, initially for Pro users in the US.OpenAI's Buy it in ChatGPT announcement and Stripe's companion release on the Agentic Commerce Protocol, an open standard for completing purchases agent-to-merchant.
A purchase task requires more than a product recommendation. The system must obtain correct offer details and complete the supported transaction steps. An integration can fail even when the product was recommended accurately.
Maintain accurate identifiers, pricing, availability, and transaction conditions. Add protocol-specific support when it is documented and useful. Compatibility with one integration does not establish compatibility with another.
Personalization and measurement
Personalization can add user preferences or prior context to a request. Two accounts can therefore receive different answers to the same visible prompt. Record account context where the test permits it.
Persona prompts test the effect of supplied requirements. They do not reproduce every feature of real account personalization. Keep that distinction in the measurement report.
Advertising and source access
Advertising creates additional placement and measurement questions. Evaluate current eligibility, labeling, and reporting. Do not assume that advertising volume must increase on every platform.
Publisher access and licensing choices can affect which material is available. Crawl-to-referral statistics describe part of that relationship, but they do not forecast a particular provider’s future sources. Monitor access to sources that matter in your category.Cloudflare's crawl-to-refer analysis on Radar, which normalizes each platform's crawl volume against the referral traffic it sends; Cloudflare notes the ratios may be overstated since only web-tool referrals are counted.
What to maintain and what to recheck
Recheck product-specific details: crawler names, supported features, model versions, feed requirements, and advertising programs. Their review frequency should follow their rate of change.
Continue maintaining accurate business facts, accessible pages, supported claims, and relevant customer information. These practices have direct value even when a model’s private source-selection process is unknown.
Reviewing product changes
Read provider documentation and announcements, identify the practical change, and test it where relevant. Record the result and its limits before changing the broader plan.
Use the linked sources in this guide to check dated claims. A publication date does not guarantee that a feature remains available.
